If you are fairly new at building WordPress sites and even more so at using HTML code, laying out a new post or page can be a daunting task. The WordPress Column Shortcodes plugin can ease your fear and make it very easy for WordPress newbies to add columns to your page or post.
Step 1:
From your WordPress Dashboard select “Plugins” / “Add New”
Step 2:
In the search box type “Column Shortcodes” and click “Search Plugins”
Step 3:
Locate the “Column Shortcodes” plugin on the list and click “Install Now”
Step 4:
Select “Activate Plugin”
Step 5:
Select “Pages” or “Posts” & click on “Edit” for the page or post you want to modify.
Step 6:
Click on the spot in your page where you want the column to begin. Then select the Shortcode Icon “
Step 7
Select the padding you want to have inside the particular column. These values can be altered later to help you align your page content.
Step 8
Select the width of the first column.
Step 9
Repeat the process to select the subsequent columns. Be sure your columns in any given row total “1”. For example, “one half” plus “one half last”= “1”. Or “one third” plus “two thirds last” = “1”.
Step 10
Insert your content between the shortcodes per this example []INSERT CONTENT HERE[]
Step 11
Select “Update” to save your page or post and to view your work.
